Why use Titch for your Nursery & School Portraits

I am a professional photographer who loves to take relaxed, natural and outdoor photographs of children and their families. I treasure my own children’s school portraits but I always wished they had been a little less staged and little more joyful! … So I decided to offer exactly that to schools and nurseries.

Instead of the cloudy and blue sky backgrounds, I use the playgrounds and school fields as my sets and backdrops. This allows me to capture relaxed, natural and fun photos of the children outside throughout their time at school.

It's a personal service and I will be taking the photographs! I have extensive experience as an established family photographer. I know how to get those natural and genuine smiles and to make children feel relaxed in a short space of time!

HOW IT WORKS

  • The nursery / school will book me for a day or two (depending on the number of children involved).

  • There is no booking fee.

  • I will visit the setting in advance of the shoot to answer queries and assess the location.

  • I can bring an assistant with me or arrange for a member of the Friends / PTA to help in advance therefore taking the strain off the admin staff, teachers and TAs who are already really busy.

  • All information and photographs are password protected and GDPR compliant through specialist software.

  • Within 14 days following the shoot, the parents will be given a special code to access a private online gallery where they can make any orders directly. It allows parents to buy high resolution and digital prints at affordable prices. There are no set packages.

  • I can offer the school / PTA a commission or I can give the school my time as a photographer for any marketing shots they might need.

  • The parents have LOVELY HAPPY OUTDOOR portraits of their children during their precious school years.

How it Works

What Happens on the Day

  • I will come to the school or nursery on the arranged date and get to work quickly and efficiently.

  • I will have someone with me (as approved by the setting prior to the shoot) to assist with the constant flow of children who are being photographed.

  • I will spend time with each child, taking a selection of photographs and ensuring they are happy and comfortable with the process.

F.A.Q's

  • Where will we have the photography shoot?
My family shoots are outside. But exactly where is up to you and is certainly something we can consider and discuss. Often I come to client’s houses and we have the photography shoot in their garden. If this isn’t an option then favourites walks are often popular...or nearby parks, or Granny’s house….. wherever! If I am familiar with your area then I am more than happy to suggest a location. If you are in and around Cirencester then I have lots of good suggestions.
  • How long will the shoot take?
My shoots normally take between 60 - 90 minutes but there is no clock watching involved. Children (like all of us) can run out of patience and interest and so it important not to make it too long. That said, if there are other family members involved or someone wants to have a break and a snack then that’s also no problem at all. The most important thing is that everyone feels as relaxed as possible and we we get some lovely natural photographs in a realistic time frame!!
  • What if it rains?
When a school or nursery books with me, we will always have a back up plan and therefore a back up date in case the weather is against us.
  • What should we all wear at the shoot?
This is really up to you. All I ask is that everyone avoids logos, busy patterns and bright colours if at all possible. Logos etc can we very eye catching when looking at the image afterwards so plain is best. Please remember that you want to feel happy and confident in what you and your kids are wearing.
  • How many photographs do you take?
Lots! But you will have approximately 40 or so to choose from on your private gallery about 2 weeks after the shoot date.
  • What happens if my children don’t behave very well at the shoot!?
Children are children and whilst we do our best as parents they can be little rotters on occasions. DO NOT WORRY about this. My shoots are outside so they can run around and left off steam and if anyone has a meltdown we can just take some out to let them calm down. If you wish to bribe them with any treats afterwards then great ;) but I leave that up to parents. If there are any particular needs or issues I should know about then please do tell me in advance. The more I am aware of then the more I can try and make it a smooth and relaxed experience.
  • What happens if my baby or children are ill on the day of the shoot?
Call me!! I'll understand. I have three kids myself and I know how quickly things can change from feeling fine to being poorly. I have had clients needing to rearrange last minute for all sorts of reasons: someone woke with a sty in their eye, someone fell over in sandpit and cut his head on a toy tractor, one little boy punched his brother a few hours before the shoot and he had a swollen eye! Obviously I would rather not cancel last minute BUT call me!! I want you to be 100% happy with the images and if someone isn’t feeling well etc then this will be apparent in the photos and I want you to love them!! Not secretly be wishing you had postponed!!

Testimonial

'When Titch came to COG to photograph our children she was a pleasure to work with. The children she photographed ranged from to 2 to 5 years, some of whom have complex needs such as Autism or may lack confidence to be photographed, especially by somebody they don’t know. Titch was outstanding at working with both parents and children alike. She was sensitive to everybody’s needs, ensuring parents felt comfortable with what she was doing and that the children felt happy and reassured. She didn’t push anything that any child showed the slightest hint of being unhappy with and was pleased to take the time to ensure the children were relaxed in order to get the best out of the children and therefore the best shots. Titch was careful to choose the right area of our setting in which to photograph, assessing the light and the areas the children knew best and enjoyed to play. She experimented with taking photographs of them sitting on one of our wooden sculptures and also moving shots of them running through the Autumn leaves. The results were absolutely beautiful. We had many very happy parents who were thrilled with the photographs and our Team here at COG were moved by the beauty of Titch’s work. It can be challenging to capture such moments with a child who doesn’t always understand what you’re asking of them or feels uncomfortable in the situation. Titch was able to do this brilliantly while making the whole experience fun for the children."
